Lifting and installation engineering applied to port modernization
At Noroccidental - TNO, we participated in one of the most representative logistics projects within Ecuador's port sector: the installation and technical support of STS (Ship-to-Shore) and RTG (Rubber Tyred Gantry) port cranes at the Puerto Bolívar Maritime Terminal, in El Oro province.
These large structures, essential for cargo loading and unloading operations at the quay, were discharged from the vessel through highly complex transfer maneuvers, executed with specialized heavy-duty equipment and highly qualified technical personnel.
Discharge and installation of port structures
The process began with the discharge of STS and RTG cranes from the vessel to the quay—large structures of considerable height and weight requiring precise coordination between the transfer equipment team, deck personnel, and port safety supervisors.
To accomplish this, TNO employed hydraulic support equipment and ramps, ensuring stability and precision at each support point during the maneuvers.
Comprehensive technical support services
Our work extended beyond the discharge phase; TNO also provided complementary services including assembly, operational testing, and specialized tasks such as: structural reinforcement welding and section assembly; electrical connections and control system calibration; application of industrial anti-corrosion coatings for final finish.
Engineering applied to the maritime sector
Installation and technical support included lifting studies and calculations, simulations, and detailed planning to ensure the safety and functionality of the cranes during port operations.
Committed to the country's logistics development
At Noroccidental - TNO, we continue to strengthen our presence in strategic sectors such as ports, energy, oil and gas, and mining, offering comprehensive transport and lifting solutions for large-scale projects.
